After the New Year's special of the influential British magazine "The Independent" listed Belgrade Beer Fest among its announcements of the most attractive events on the planet, it became clear that Belgrade and Serbia begot a manifestation which is through its quality and volume to become a unique trademark of the country's capital.
After only five years, this pioneering venture into beer culture promotion grew into the most massive tourist tradition in Belgrade with over half a million visitors annually. Advertising several hundreds of the most famous Serbian and foreign beer brands along with quality music and free entrance represent the signature stamps of this manifestation.
Adding to the particularly pleasing charm of the festival is its location - the conjunction of the Danube and Sava rivers - opening the event to a unique sense of being one with nature.
During the fifteen years of the Beer Fest, its audience enjoyed over 750 musical performances, free of charge. The Beer Fest is marked as an influential factor in the development of musical taste through performances of foreign acts such as Simple Minds, Rudimental, CeeLo Green, Stereo MC's, Marky Ramones and Blitzkrieg as well as regional stars such as Darko Rundek, Leibach, Hladno Pivo, Psihomodo Pop, Bajaga & Instruktori, Riblja Čorba, Rambo Amadeus, Prljavi inspektor Blaža i Kljunovi and KUD Idijoti. This year, and for the first time, the Beer Fest will offer three performance stages.
Over 450 beer brands found their way to the Beer Fest up until today. Due to its incredible assortment and variety of offers, the festival truly represents heaven for those possessed of a disposition towards beer. Adding to its unique aura is the presence of a large number of representatives of the more and more popular craft brewery movement. The biggest national beer brewing companies of course act as the festival's patrons, making it possible to attend the event free of charge.
Just like most other global festivals, the Belgrade Beer Fest conducts several-months long campaigns with strong appeal to the social sphere. "Biram da recikliram" [My Choice is to Recycle], "Društvo, ko vozi kući?" [Guys, Who'll Drive us Home?], actions committed to STD and AIDS prevention, "Kada pijem, ne vozim" [I Don't Drink and Drive], the cooperation with the Red Cross and many other social movements represent the most notable social campaigns that found their realization at the Beer Fest.
We can't wait to see you again at the Beer Fest atop the Belgrade's two rivers! Quality beer, hanging out and good music will make this an event beyond forgetting!
